Active Adventures Between the Hohe Tauern and the Kitzbühel Alps

Yes, we’re a wellness hotel – but one where wellbeing means more than just stillness.

At Sonnberghof, we believe that balance comes from both rest and activity. Surrounded by the Hohe Tauern and the Kitzbühel Alps, you’ll find the perfect playground for hiking, biking, and recharging in nature’s embrace.

Nature, Adventure & Pure Enjoyment – Hand in Hand

Whether cycling across sunny alpine meadows, hiking through lush green mountain pastures, or feeling that familiar tingle of excitement as the first snowflakes fall and ski season begins — every athlete’s heart beats faster here. For those who crave variety, there’s plenty to discover: swing your golf club against a breathtaking mountain backdrop, or feel the rush of speed on the world’s longest illuminated toboggan run. At Sonnberghof, nature, adventure, and wellbeing come together effortlessly — making it the perfect place for everyone who loves both activity and relaxation in equal measure.

Enjoy Autumn to the Fullest

Experience autumn in all its glory: pedal with power across sunlit trails, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and feel the fresh energy of nature with every heartbeat.
Or admire the colorful carpet of leaves from above – on scenic hikes with sweeping views across the peaks and valleys that soon glow in shades of gold, red, and orange. A true highlight awaits at the Krimml Waterfalls, where nature’s strength and beauty can be felt year-round — a breathtaking wonder that leaves no one untouched. Golf enthusiasts will also find joy here: depending on the weather, the Mittersill golf course often remains open until mid-November, offering unforgettable rounds surrounded by a magnificent alpine panorama. For those seeking inner balance, peace is found right here at Sonnberghof — during yoga sessions with views of the Hohe Tauern, where lightness and depth flow together in perfect harmony. Trust us, it’s an experience you’ll carry with you for a long time. And for everyone already dreaming of carving down snowy slopes — the winter season is just around the corner. Soon, it will be time for the first turns in the snow again.

Getting Fit for the Winter Season

To make sure your first ski days in the Kitzbühel ski area don’t start with burning thighs and sore muscles, it’s worth giving your body a little prep now.
Here are a few simple exercises you can easily do at home – no equipment needed:

  • Plank: 3 minutes (1 minute straight, 1 minute left side, 1 minute right side)
  • Sit-ups: 3 × 20
  • Side twists: 3 × 20
  • Squats: 3 × 20 (only as deep as your knees allow)
  • Single-leg jump squats: 3 × 15
  • Push-ups: 3 × 20
  • Dips: 3 × 20

And don’t forget — train your arms!
Even at the start of the race, strong arms can give you that extra edge. :)

And if sore muscles do catch up with you — don’t worry.
Our wellness therapists know exactly how to loosen every muscle and help you start the next day full of renewed energy.
