Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice – December 21st

The longest night and the shortest day of the year.

From this moment on, the days slowly begin to grow longer again.

But this night also marks the beginning of the Rauhnächte — the mystical time between the winter solstice and the start of the new year.

The Rauhnächte – The Twelve Sacred Nights

The Rauhnächte, also known as the Twelve Nights, mark a special and mystical period in the cycle of the year.
These twelve nights and thirteen days form a symbolic bridge between the old and the new year — with each night representing one month of the year to come.

The Rauhnächte begin with the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, which falls between December 21 and 23, depending on the calendar.
In many cultures, this turning point marks the true beginning of the new year and the gradual return of light.

It is said that during these nights, the veil between the earthly and the spiritual world becomes thinner — making this a time especially suited for reflection, rituals, and spiritual practices.
In Alpine traditions, homes have long been filled with the scent of burning herbs, as people give thanks for the past year, honor its lessons, and welcome the new one with joyful anticipation.

Now is the perfect moment to pause and turn inward.
Ask yourself:
What am I truly grateful for? What do I wish for in the year ahead? What truly matters for my personal growth? And which thoughts or patterns am I ready to release?

A gentle herbal incense ritual can help guide this process — nature’s way of cleansing and bringing clarity.

We wish you a peaceful, heartfelt time between the years.
May you use and cherish it — this sacred, healing pause of winter.

With love,
