Hiking & Wellness in the Hohe Tauern National Park

The highest peaks, the most powerful waterfalls, the most beautiful views, wide valleys, the quietest moments, natural touches. For over 30 years the Sonnberghof and the Hohe Tauern National Park have been protected areas. This high-altitude nature reserve will be your well-deserved holiday experience between 800 and 3,000 meters above sea level.

The Krimml waterfalls are the highest in Europe, and its little sister the ‘Sulzbach’ waterfall will charm you with its idyllic picturesqueness. The giant glacier imposes itself over the region: the Großglockner at 3,798 m is the highest mountain in Austria. The Großvenediger at 3.666 meters is the highest mountain in Salzburg; The Larmkogel at 3.017 m is an achievable target for those who fancy a challenge. In the tranquil sun drenched mountain huts you can treat yourself to a break - the ‘Senningerbräualm’ in Hollersbachtal, the ‘Mauchachalm’ in Habachtal and the ‘Baumgartenalm’ in Mühlbachtal are all perfect locations for the end of your hike or simply for a drinks break. The National Park taxi offers access to the mountain huts. The five Salzach valleys, Krimmler Achental, Sulzbachtal, Habachtal, Hollersbachtal and Felbertal are among the most beautiful and unspoilt valleys in Salzburg. They are all easily accessible from the Sonnberghof.

Feel free to let yourself go, even into the swimming pond!

After a day in the mountains, I look forward to simply doing nothing. I can enjoy the views, the sun, and feel the water on my skin. Diving in the swimming pond will help loosen the joints, along with the warmth of the sun. Sweeping views over the mountains and meadows reminds you of the happiness of today.

The ‘Vitalalm’, between Heaven and Earth

The warmth of the sauna envelopes me, while my focus is drawn to the horizon of the mountains. Enjoy the masterful massage strokes to relax those tired walking legs. Christine's natural products are great for the skin and the relaxing oils are sure to put a smile on your face.
