A place with an impact: Why we are a Change Maker Hotel
What we live at Gut Sonnberghof is more than just sustainable tourism - it is a holistic understanding of responsibility, enjoyment and the future. As part of the Change Maker Hotels, we belong to a select community that is setting new standards - for regionality, circular economy, energy efficiency and social responsibility. We are proud to be part of this movement - because we believe that vacations inspire. Change often begins where people come to rest.
Wellness hotel meets organic farm - and that doesn't just work for us, it inspires.
What may seem incompatible at first glance comes together quite naturally here with us: authentic country life and an alpine wellness vacation at the highest level. While you relax in the lakeside sauna or bathe in the natural pool, the Pinzgau cows graze in the meadow right next door. Nature is not staged here, but lived - powerful, original, unadulterated.
Because we don't just talk about it, we live it.
Sustainability is not a concept on paper, but a responsibility we live by. Our family has been farming organically for generations. Our guests experience how cycles work - from the barn to the menu. Fresh cheese, butter and yoghurt are produced daily in the farm's own cheese dairy. The hotel's own spring supplies the entire hotel with top-quality drinking water. Photovoltaics, geothermal energy, solar panels and a wood-burning stove provide most of the energy - for the kitchen, spa and pools.
We use what grows around us - and pass it on.
Around 4,000 herbs grow in the garden, many of which Christine processes into tea, bath additives or natural cosmetics in her small herb kitchen. Her knowledge can be experienced - and felt - in workshops. In the "Herbarium" bar, wild herbs such as nettle, yarrow and lavender are used in non-alcoholic drinks and creative signature cocktails. Indulgence and nature in perfect harmony.
What counts is a way of life that slows down and inspires.
In the nature spa with panoramic saunas, lake sauna, relaxation rooms and natural pond, regeneration becomes tangible. Daily yoga, conscious movement in the middle of the mountains, SOMA breathing or guided herbal hikes open up new approaches to body and mind. If you wish, you can set off directly from the hotel into the national park - on foot, by mountain bike or in winter with snowshoes.
