Starting from February 2027, Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel will be operated as an adults-only hotel – guests aged 14 and older are warmly welcome. This allows us to create a particularly calm and relaxing atmosphere for adults.
The Sonnberghof has been a family-run organic farm for several generations. About two generations ago, a small youth hostel was added, which was later transformed into a guesthouse with private rooms by the Holzer family. More than 22 years ago, Christine and Franz Riedlsberger took over and gradually developed it into today’s 4-star superior nature hotel – complete with its own organic farm and a spacious, exclusive wellness area.
The Sonnberghof is located in Mittersill, surrounded by the Kitzbühel Alps and the Hohe Tauern National Park. The towns of Kitzbühel and Zell am See are each about a 30-minute drive away. The nearest access point to the Kitzbühel ski area is just 5 minutes from the hotel.

The Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel is a 4-star superior nature hotel in a secluded location, surrounded by the Kitzbühel Alps and the Hohe Tauern. It’s ideal for wellness stays as well as golf, skiing, biking, or hiking vacations. The hotel features a spacious wellness area with four saunas, a steam bath, extensive relaxation rooms, and highly trained wellness therapists. The wellness garden, with a 5-hectare panoramic meadow, invites guests to soak up the sun and unwind. Dogs are welcome in selected rooms at the Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel. There is also a designated restaurant area where dogs are permitted with prior arrangement.
Pets are not allowed in all rooms at the Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel. Please indicate when booking and check availability in advance.
- Fences: Most pastures are protected with electric fences, which have replaced barbed wire. Contact can be unpleasant for dogs and people.
- Cows: Exercise caution around cows with calves. Young cows especially may show strong maternal instincts. Keep your dog on a short leash and pass by the animals quickly
- Accommodation: Dogs are welcome in the Bauernhaus and Haupthaus. They are unfortunately not allowed in the Vitalhaus. Please use your own dog blanket.
- Outdoors: Dogs may be walked on a leash within the hotel grounds. Please avoid the swimming pond and meadows. Dog waste must be removed immediately, even outside the hotel, as it can affect the cows’ organic feed (risk of neosporosis or miscarriages). Outside the hotel, dogs must remain on a leash. There are beautiful walking paths in the forest and in Hohe Tauern National Park.
- Restaurant: Dogs are welcome on the sun terrace and in a designated restaurant area with prior arrangement.
- Hiking: Dogs can join guided hikes. Pets are not allowed in the hiking taxi.
- Fees: Information about costs for staying with a dog is available at the reception.
From February 2027, Gut Sonnberghof will operate as an adults-only hotel. Until then, guests of all ages are welcome.
The Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel offers four e-charging stations for cars, billed directly through Salzburg-AG via QR code. The hotel has no influence over the pricing. There are also e-bike charging stations available free of charge.
The nearest train station is Mittersill, approximately 4 km from the Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel.
Guests arriving at Mittersill train station can request a shuttle service directly to the Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel. Travel from Kitzbühel is also possible, though we recommend switching to the bus to Mittersill or arranging a private transfer.

The Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel does not have air conditioning. However, thanks to its location at around 900 meters above sea level, nights are usually pleasantly cool. In 2025, all rooms were equipped with fly and mosquito screens, allowing guests to enjoy fresh mountain air—environmentally friendly and healthy. :)
A reservation is confirmed once the deposit has been received.
For any cancellation, a written notice by email is required. Failure to pay the deposit does not automatically count as a cancellation.
We accept Mastercard, Visa, EC card, and cash. Larger deposits can also be made via bank transfer.
Guests can check in on any day of the week, depending on room availability.
There is no minimum stay, except during Christmas and Carnival (7 days) and the Hahnenkamm races (3 days).
Rooms at the Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel are ready from 3:00 PM on the day of arrival. All hotel facilities and program activities can already be used freely throughout the entire arrival day.
Rooms must be vacated by 11:00 AM on the day of departure. Guests can still use the hotel facilities free of charge until 2:00 PM. For an additional €25, it is possible to enjoy the entire wellness area and the afternoon snack until 7:00 PM.
The Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel offers a large free parking lot directly at the hotel. A carport can also be reserved in advance. For bookings in our Waldhaus rooms or the Studio Engelwurz in the Haupthaus, a carport space is included in the room price.
Free Wi-Fi is available in every room at the Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel.

The Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel has two pools: an indoor/outdoor pool measuring 22 × 6 meters and an outdoor HEAVENPOOL at 36 °C. The hotel also features a natural swimming pond.

The indoor/outdoor pool is open daily from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM year-round. The HEAVENPOOL is accessible daily from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, also year-round; afterward, the water is pumped one floor down for overnight filtration and heating to minimize energy use. The natural swimming pond is available 24/7 throughout the year.

Guests can choose from classic back and full-body massages, aromatherapy or hot-stone massages, Ayurvedic treatments, or sound bowl therapy. The program also includes various facial and body treatments, scrubs, manicures, and special packages for couples. All treatments are performed by experienced experts and can be reserved in advance. We recommend booking treatment appointments prior to arrival.

Guests aged 14 and older can visit the Gut Sonnberghof Naturhotel as day spa guests. Please note that hotel guests have priority, and visits may not always be possible depending on bookings. Even outside the main season, we welcome a maximum of 8 day spa guests per day.
Full-Day Day Spa: Includes breakfast, afternoon snack, bathrobe, and towels. Wellness areas are available from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Price: €109 per person.

The nearest toboggan run is the 14 km Wildkogel run in Neukirchen/Bramberg (suitable for children from around 8 years old) with floodlights. Access is convenient via the Smaragdbahn gondola, about a 12-minute drive from the hotel. This toboggan run in Bramberg is the longest illuminated run in the world.
