Who we are: a herbalist with passion, an organic farmer with conviction and together hosts with heart and soul.
Rooted in the Hohe Tauern region. Connected to the sunny place we call home. In love with nature, in every season. At Gut Sonnberghof, alpine living, mindful hospitality, and deeply rooted organic farming go hand in hand. For generations, we have lived in harmony with nature – with our own farm, herb garden, and spring. Our energy comes almost entirely from renewable resources, many products travel straight from the farm to the table, and our spa is guided by a sustainable concept. Awarded with the Austrian Eco-Label and carried by people with passion and responsibility – because we believe that true indulgence is only possible in harmony with nature.

The Sonnberghof cuisine
Homemade and handmade, from ingredients from our organic farm - around this concept we build our menu plan. Essential ingredient: herbs from Christine's garden.
Sustainability
Our heart burns for resource conservation, and we reduce energy consumption where possible. We take many steps in small ways. With the temperature management of our outdoor pool, we have taken a big leap forward.
The organic farm
Farm and hotel live in symbiosis. Franz runs the organic farming with heart and a lot of brains. He devotes himself to breeding the endangered Pinzgauer cows and is constantly tinkering with new organic products for the Sonnberghof kitchen.
Our location
Where the Tauern Mountains meet the sky and freedom seems endless - this is our home. Where fox and hare say good night to each other and all is well with the world: in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
The material wood
Swiss pine, larch and spruce - our village carpenter uses only the wood of our land for our furniture. The scent, texture and colors are lively and warm. The wood is a greeting from the forests of the Hohe Tauern.
Christine's herb garden
Herbs play a leading role at our hotel: in food and drinks, in the spa, in the rooms, around the house. Christine is a trained herbalist and fascinated by the taste, effectiveness and magic of herbs. She likes to share this fascination.
Spa & Wellness
Breathe in, breathe out, breathe deeply. Our spa offer is carefully designed. Experts with medical-therapeutic training ensure that the relaxation and the effects of the treatments last.
